Moose, Shira
The Shira's Moose subspecies has the smallest body and antlers of any North American moose. The Shira's Moose is found in British Columbia, Alberta, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. Since the 1990s, Moose populations have declined dramatically in much of temperate North America, although they remain stable in arctic and subarctic.
The population decline, in my opinion, is the result of climate change, loss of old growth forests and the "Winter Tick. Winter Tick infestations can become thick on a Moose they virtually suck it dry.
My images are from the Greater Yellowstone Area, Island Park, Idaho.
